Take Joy, Take Peace

“No heaven can come to us unless our hearts find rest in it today.
Take Heaven.
No peace lies in the future which is not hidden in this present instant.
Take Peace.
The gloom of the world is but a shadow; behind it, yet within our reach, is joy.
Take Joy.”
~Fra Giovanni Giocondo, 1513, Priest, Architect & Scholar

Tasha Tudor with her Beloved Goat

The new year being upon us, of which we celebrated the Celtic version back on November 1st, I have been dreaming and making plans for 2010. While “resolutions” seem non-conducive to success in my experience, “intentions” have a funny way of sticking around. The world seems to conspire with your higher self to pop up little reminders, reflections in the outside world that remind you internally of the intention you have set for yourself.

Mine and Serge’s intention for this coming year is to focus much more of our time and energy on our greater goals, number one being to channel and make many more spiritually inspiring creations. Whether this takes the form of videos, podcasts, ebooks, other audios or another book manuscript is something that will tell itself in time. All that I know is that, in the past, I have gotten in my own way when creating and now intend to step out of that shadowy place and let more light shine through into my work.

For all of us, there are many little moments that seem to happen to us. Things that are not created by us. We may not have asked for them, but the nature of life is that they come to us anyway. And each for some unknown reason or purpose. Yet these are the moments when it is very easy for us to lose our sense of self-knowing, or connection and faith in the spirit. As a sensitive, I can say that I have more of these experiences than most.

What can you do then, when the external world comes crashing into your inner world? How can you answer back as the will and actions of other people seem intent upon derailing you and turning you from your chosen course?

The answer is, … Continue reading →

Stardate: January 1st, 2010

“We did not change as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves.” ~Lynn Hall, Children’s Author

Numbers on Cupcakes

Numerology has always fascinated me — the way that numbers can predict the energy of a day or even the underlying lessons of a person’s life.

With a new year dawning and the vibration of great change in the air, both personally and globally, I felt I would share a bit of inspiring information on the upcoming date and year with you all.

January 1st, 2010 breaks down numerologically as the number 5. Five is always a number of completion, of a definite end to one thing, or phase, and the beginning of another. Number 5 says, “Hurry up and make a change, already!”

“Well, duh,” some might say. “Of course it is change, because January 1st ends one year and begins a new one.” But the five energy in this case is not only referencing something so mundane as the start of a new year. This particular instance of the 5 is signaling to us … Continue reading →

Five Minutes For Progress

Reaching for the Goal

“Even if you are on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.”

~Will Rogers, Cowboy, Comedian and Actor

In our hectic everyday lives it can be so easy to become complacent about things that bother us and about the things that we know we are supposed to do. A deep lethargy can set into us, and do it so slowly and subtly that we don’t even realize we have fallen asleep on our own life.

We can be sitting in a pile of junk, knowing that we would feel better if it were only clean. But yet we seek out that one clear corner and cower in it day-after-day. Or we can be feeling depressed knowing that our self-esteem would improve, if only our backside didn’t have so much cellulite, but we never get on that treadmill. Or maybe we are wanting a change in career, knowing that we should learn a new skill, but never seeming to implement that thought into action.

When we have a big task to complete or a large challenge to overcome, it can seem so overwhelming that taking it past the point of realization and thought is virtually impossible.

Well, I have been there, I have faced the place of hopelessness, daydreaming and inaction so many times in my life. After all those false starts, after living through the periods when something that could have taken me two weeks wound up taking me two years, I have finally mastered the ability to face that lethargy monster and move it out of my way quickly and efficiently.

You’ve heard the old adages: Make hay while the sun shines. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. No time like the present. Just do it.

The truth is clear, if you want to … Continue reading →

Medium Adventures: The Geisha Girl

“There are incalculable resources in the human spirit, once it has been set free.”

~Hubert H. Humphrey, 38th Vice President of the United States

Autumn Geisha GirlSo, my friend Damian made a suggestion recently that I think is a good one.

Damian wrote:

“I’d like to see a ‘Series’ exploring your meetings with Spirit – Positive, Negative or simply when they called in to say “hello” – which includes descriptions of the entities you met along the way.

That’d make great reading.

Well, thanks for the suggestion, Damian. I have been thinking on how to bring this about for sometime now and this request made me decide to just stop thinking about it and DO it!

So I have added this new tag, “medium adventures“, and will now start telling some more detailed, real experiences that I have had.

~

A brief encounter happened the other day….

I was in the shower, relaxing with my thoughts. Yes, really.

Just as I was getting ready to turn the water off and step out of the shower, I had a spirit energy come to me.

It entered straight into me and made a beeline for my brain ——->

“I am all alone.”

It was a woman speaking.

I could hear her clear as … Continue reading →

Universal Soul: A Video Meditation

“The greatest stories are those that resonate our beginnings and intuit our endings, our mysterious origins and our numinous destinies, and dissolve them both into one.”

~Ben Okri, Nigerian Poet and Novelist

I get so many requests to write more guided meditations like Reading the Trees. Sometimes the muse just will not descend. Of course, I write a lot of targeted meditations for my own spiritual path. But very few of them are appropriate for others. We are all on our own unique journey.

In response to the level of requests, as well as to a directive from the universe, I have decided to try my hand at visual meditation. Please go easy on me as its my first foray into such territory. Also, email and let me know if it works for you. If a lot of you like it, I will try to make it a regular feature here at Awaken to Light.

Of course, you can tell by watching this what my story for the meditation is. But I thought it might be fun if you make up your own story to the images. Include them in your comments. Or if you have a similar video of your own, feel free to … Continue reading →

Reading the Trees: A Meditation

Ancient Trees

The groves were God’s first temples.

~William Cullen Bryant, “A Forest Hymn”

A tree is an interesting entity in the realm of creation and in the realm of nature. It is a living being, an energy form that, more than any another, records within itself the knowledge and history of its surrounding environment.

A tree begins from seed, embodied within which is its own original energy. But then it amasses its self and its mature energy from the environment around it.

The trees are the books of time, just as their wood may provide fodder for the books of mankind, so, too, does the environment provide fodder for the books of the trees. The trees are like braille waiting to be read, like a musical recording waiting to be played.

Shamanic Healing: My Experience

British Jay Bird

“The greatest healing therapy is friendship and love.”
~Hubert H. Humphrey

—————————————————————
This article is a repost from our old blog – originally dated May 2008.
—————————————————————

At present the universe has blown me to Britain, ostensibly to write my first book manuscript, but in actuality it is for so much more. Some of my strongest past life occurrences happened here and I have memories here from this life as well.

The country is green and lush and offers many opportunities for being in a remote place, communing with yourself and nature.

And so, settling down for now in beautiful, spiritual Glastonbury, I find myself not writing a book as much as healing.

The energies here have propelled me to heal wounds that, until recently, I did not even know existed, both present and past life.

And it has not been SO difficult to face, not as hard and harrowing as one might expect. I feel that the Earth energies here and the help of my guides has made the process as smooth, and relatively painless, as it can be.

Of course, there will likely come releases of energy and awareness and belief patterns that may not be so easy. But that time is not now.

Still, for now, the process is flowing smoothly and I must assume that it is happening because it needs to, in order to allow my book to manifest.

As part of this healing journey, which I had not expected to be taking, I had a private shamanic healing session. This was my experience:

The shamanic healer, who is female but called by the name of Jay (like a British jaybird,) is based here in Glastonbury at the Bridget Healing Centre.

Her voice and appearance are both gentle and calming, which is why I chose her the minute that I met her. (They also have another shamanic healer named Kestrel, whom I’ve never met.)

Jay was very understanding about the situations that I explained to her and did not … Continue reading →

Knowing of the Divine Self

“I am convinced that there are universal currents of Divine Thought vibrating the ether everywhere and that any who can feel these vibrations is inspired.”
~Richard Wagner, 19th-century German Composer

Divine ShivaThe divine self is your inner life force, your true motivation for living. The divine self is what powers you and makes you wonder. It is the soul light at your core that chose to be incarnate at this point in time.

The divine or higher self is that part of you that is ever-aware. The divine self has been aware and thinking since your birth in this lifetime and since your birth in every other lifetime. The body and the physical realm, in which we dwell, are but a vehicle for the higher self.

You are here because you have chosen to be here and because the energy force, that is life and awareness, has lessons to learn and exchanges to make that can only be accomplished by taking human or manifest form.

All that is, is light.

Though it may seem as if the physics of incarnation, of being born and of living in the busy, colorful, physical world of manifestation would cut us off from knowing the divine self at our core, it does not … Continue reading →
